IS THIS YOU?

Chronic stress and related health problems     Migraine Headaches

     Osteoporosis                                            Sleep Disturbances

     Poor memory                                            Alcohol intolerance

     Stress maladaptation                                 Low sex drive

Lack of vitality and energy                         Muscle and joint pain

     Hypoglycemia                                          Low body temperature

     Menopause symptoms

Do you need the Adrenal Stress Index Test?
Fill out the Metabolic Assessment Questionnaire. If you mark 2's and 3's in any categories, you may benefit in doing an ASI. Some Categories bear a heavier indication toward Adrenal stress.

Adrenal Stress Index
Free Cortisol Rhythm

§         Provides a complete analysis of Cortisol activity

§         Accurately measures “unbound” levels of both Cortisol and DHEA

§         Controlled collection times allow for accurate baseline testing of circadian hormones and effective monitoring of bio-available hormone therapy

§         The ASI is a non-invasive, timed saliva test that targets free-circulating, biological active hormones

Adrenal Stress Index Results

The ASI reports what stage of Adrenal Fatigue or Exhaustion you are currently living in. Then specific protocols are utilized to support you and return you to health.

Alarm Phase

  1. Stress Adapted “Hyper Response” response; minimal change
  2. Stress Adapted with divergence in response to ACTH

Resistance Phase

  1. Maladaptation Phase I
  2. Maladaptation Phase II

Exhaustion Phase

  1. Adrenal fatigue, non-adapted
  2. Inappropriate DHEA-S value
  3. Adrenal exhaustion

Saliva Hormone Testing

  • Saliva unbinds hormones
  • Allows identification of hormone levels available to bind to receptor sites and induce cellular response.
  • Measures circadian rhythms of hormones
    • Daily
    • Entire menstrual cycle
  • Saliva testing offers more controlled collection times
    • Critical for accurate baseline testing of hormones that display circadian rhythms
    • Effective monitoring of dosage levels of hormone therapy
  • Multiple samples may be collected by the patient at home or work
    • Avoiding inconvenience and expense of repeated visits to a clinic or hospital
  • Free or unbound hormones are relatively non-polar and have a low molecular weight (less than 400 Daltons) allowing them to easily diffuse from blood to saliva
  • Saliva acts as a natural ultrafiltrate of blood making it an excellent medium for measuring the biologically active fraction of steroid hormones in the bloodstream
  • Numerous clinical studies validate the use of saliva as a reliable clinical marker for assessing free hormone levels and for diagnosing Hypothalamic – Pituitary – Adrenal malfunction
  • Salivary DHEA levels correlate closely with free plasma levels, representing about 0.1% of their concentration in blood plasma
  • There is also excellent linear correlation between salivary and free serum cortisol concentration

 Advantages and Disadvantages

§         Less expensive than free fractioned blood serum hormone testing

§         Some hormones can not be tested

§         Lack of general understanding from outdated health community in it’s application

Evaluating Hormone Levels

When evaluating hormones, it is important not to focus on individual levels of the hormone but rather on the circadian rhythm and hormone ratios.

  • Cortisol / DHEA

  • Testosterone / Estrogens + Progesterone

  • Progesterone / Estrogens (E1 + E2 + E3)
